Western New York

Western New York

First Book provides new books to children in need, addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy - access to books. An innovative leader in social enterprise, each year First Book distributes millions of free and low-cost books to disadvantaged children and the programs that serve them throughout the U.S. and and Canada.

First Book-Western New York is focused on identifying and funding the distribution of high quality books and educational resources to classrooms and programs serving children in low-income households in all eight counties in the Western New York Region-  Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties.

How to Receive Books

If you’re an educator or program administrator and serve 70% or more children from low-income families, military families, or children with disabilities, we can help.  If you want to provide children in need books to read and to take home,  you must  REGISTER HERE to access any of the First Book resources.

Eligible programs that complete the registration process receive access to:

  • First Book National Book Bank, offering free books through Mass Book Distributions, sponsored by our National corporate supporters (pay only for shipping typically at 35 to 50 cents a book)
