Children from Preschool Intervention Program in Norristown receive new First Books
|
First Book provides new books to children in need, addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy - access to books. An innovative leader in social enterprise, each year First Book distributes millions of free and low-cost books to disadvantaged children and the programs that serve them. First Book-Central Montgomery is the local Advisory Board that has served 9 programs and distributed over 3,300 books since its inception in 2011. Thank you! Thank you to our many donors in 2012! With your generous contributions, we have raised over $15,000 to be granted to deserving children in Bucks, Montgomery, and Delaware Counties. This past year we have already donated over 3,200 books to children in need and look forward to granting to new Recipient Groups. Book Grant Recipients A typical book grant lasts for a one-year period and offers each child in the program a steady diet of books (usually one book per month), all at no cost to the program. Because program administrators select the titles through First Book catalogs, our book grants enable programs — often for the first time — to select books to integrate into curriculum.
